A tree fell on Tuesday onto a car traveling along Aviatorilor Boulevard in Bucharest. No casualties were reported, and police temporarily restricted traffic.
Teams from District 1 City Hall intervened immediately after the area was cordoned off. The roadway was cleared in approximately 30 minutes, and the entire intervention ended after about an hour, when traffic could safely resume, according to Mayor George Tuță.
After removing and cutting up the trunk, local administration employees found that the tree’s central cylinder, namely the wood inside, had been affected. The deterioration had reduced its resistance to wind and weather, but was not visible from the outside.
The mayor said that District 1 still has dry or dangerous trees requiring intervention. The local authority has begun adding work permits to a map, including those issued between 2021 and 2026, to keep clearer records of trees and approved interventions. So far, more than 8,500 young trees and over 500 planting pits for new trees have been mapped.
