Gabriel Andronache, vice president of ANRE, stated that the increases in retail prices cannot be attributed to electricity, highlighting that, in 2025, non-household consumers paid the same price as before. The increases mainly affected household consumers, especially those with low consumption.

Andronache emphasized the need to increase domestic production and develop interconnections to achieve lower energy prices. He mentioned that Romania exports cheap energy during peak production times and imports expensive energy during peak consumption hours, which contributes to a high final price. He also highlighted the importance of developing storage capacities for balancing the energy system. In 2025, Romania recorded a dispatchable storage capacity of approximately 593 MW, and producers and prosumers are starting to invest in these capacities.
