The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) announced that it has initiated a legal action in the Sibiu Tribunal against former president Klaus Iohannis, who refuses to pay his debts to the state. ANAF is requesting the establishment of precautionary measures on the properties owned by Iohannis, in the context of a debt of 4.7 million lei, an amount that includes penalties and interest for the lack of use of a 1/2 share of a property in Sibiu.

The property was owned by the Iohannis family between 1999 and 2016, and the rental income was significant. The Brașov Court of Appeal established in 2015 that the property was held illegally, and the title of ownership was annulled in 2016. ANAF sent a payment demand, and the Iohannis family recently lost another property in Sibiu, further complicating the legal situation. The litigations related to these properties have prevented the state from recovering the properties according to previous court decisions.
