The former presidential advisor and ambassador of Romania, Cătălin Avramescu, is the subject of a DIICOT investigation regarding alleged acts of child pornography, the case being opened following a complaint filed by his former partner.
Investigators are conducting a digital search of his phones and laptop to verify the veracity of the accusations, which would include photographs of the couple's minor daughter. Although the complaint has been filed, sources within the investigation indicate that the evidence gathered so far may not be sufficient to support the allegations.
Cătălin Avramescu, director of the Institute of Political Science and International Relations and a professor at the University of Bucharest, enjoys the presumption of innocence, and investigators continue their inquiries to clarify the situation. This investigation comes in the context of a prolonged conflict between Avramescu and his former partner, which has also generated other accusations in court.
