ANPC director Paul Anghel has warned that the majority of pork sold in Romania is imported, with countries of origin including Spain, Germany and Chile. There are cases where imported meat is packaged in Romania and labeled as Romanian, misleading consumers. A long supply chain can also compromise the meat's freshness. ANPC advises consumers to check labels carefully and not be fooled by national symbols.
