Over 1,500 economic operators checked by ANPC. What irregularities were found?

Between June 15 and 19, inspectors from the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted a large-scale control action, checking over 1,500 traders in the food and non-food sectors. The action aimed to evaluate compliance with product safety standards.

As a result of the inspections, serious irregularities were identified, including the sale of food with expired shelf life, improper storage and hygiene conditions, as well as the sale of fish without the necessary identification elements. Inspectors discovered products affected by mold, degraded frozen foods, and worn-out equipment.

As a result of these violations, ANPC imposed 990 fines totaling over 4.4 million lei and issued 749 warnings. Additionally, non-compliant products worth over 230,000 lei were withdrawn from sale, and the sale of some products estimated at over 1.2 million lei was temporarily suspended. The activity of 21 economic operators was halted until the identified deficiencies were remedied.
