The Corvin Castle in Hunedoara is undergoing its first complete restoration since 1914, with European funds.

The Hunedoara City Hall announced the completion of the rehabilitation of the access bridge from the area of the old Gate Tower and the restoration of the Buzdugan Tower, as well as the historical fresco in the Matia Loggia, which features the coats of arms of some great noble families. The project, valued at 6.6 million euros, is funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and continues the previous works carried out between 2018 and 2023. The Bear Pit will be included in the visiting circuit, and tourists will be able to explore new spaces, such as the Chapel Bridge and the area 'between the Walls'. The restoration works will be completed by August 31, 2026, marking the first complete restoration of the Corvin Castle since 1914. Mayor Dan Bobouțanu emphasized the importance of this project for the city and for European cultural heritage.
