Manchester City confirmed on Friday the departure of coach Pep Guardiola, who will leave the club at the end of the season, after a period of seven years in which he won twenty trophies, including a Champions League and six titles in the Premier League. His last match on the team's bench will be on Sunday, against Aston Villa. Guardiola, at the age of 55, stated that the time has come for him to leave, without providing specific reasons.
Throughout his career at City, he transformed the team into a dominant force in English and European football, setting records in the Premier League. After his departure, Guardiola will take on an ambassadorial role for City Football Group, providing technical advice to affiliated clubs and working on specific projects. This decision had been anticipated in the British press, but it has not been confirmed by him until now.
