Gabriela Ruse, a Romanian tennis player, made a successful debut at the 2026 Australian Open, defeating Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, ranked 27th in the WTA, with a score of 6-4, 7-5. The match lasted one hour and 49 minutes, and Ruse managed to reach the second round for the second consecutive year. Although she led 4-0 and 5-1 in the second set, Ruse had difficult moments but managed to finish the match on her fifth attempt.
