World leader Arina Sabalenka, at the age of 28, was eliminated on Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam tournament at Roland-Garros, after a dramatic match against Diana Shnaider, ranked 23rd in the world. Sabalenka started well, leading 1-0 in sets and having a 4-1 advantage in the second set, but Shnaider made a spectacular comeback, winning the match 3-6, 7-5, 6-0. In the semi-finals, Shnaider will face Polish player Maja Chwalinska, who defeated Anna Kalinskaya. Shnaider has been the subject of controversy, being accused by Ukrainian Oliynykova of liking pro-Russian posts in the context of the current conflict. She highlighted the personal impact of the war on her before being eliminated by Shnaider in the round of 16.
