The Bucharest Court of Appeal ordered the preventive arrest of Alexandru Bălan, accused of treason for disclosing secret information to the KGB from Belarus. Detained by prosecutors in Timișoara, Bălan was transported to Bucharest for hearings. Between 2024 and 2025, he had meetings in Budapest with KGB officers, having suspicions of transmitting information and payments for services. The investigation benefited from international support from several intelligence services.
