Former PSD senator, Marius Isăilă, has been released from preventive detention and placed under judicial control by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, after contesting the arrest decision. He is accused by DNA prosecutors of having promised one million euros to the Minister of Defense to facilitate the conclusion of contracts between Romtehnica and a private company.
Isăilă, who has a criminal record, having been previously convicted for corruption, was placed in preventive detention for 30 days by the Bucharest Tribunal. DNA specified that the crime of influence peddling was committed in a state of recidivism, and the charges were brought in accordance with the legislation in force. Isăilă was a senator from 2012 to 2016 and was definitively sentenced in 2016 to five years and four months in prison for other corruption offenses.
