DNA has initiated criminal proceedings against a man with no special status and placed him under judicial supervision for 60 days, accusing him of three counts of influence peddling. According to prosecutors, he allegedly solicited and received several sums of money, promising that he could intervene with officials to obtain favors in the areas of the military and public-sector employment.
Between April and May 2026, the man allegedly received 13,000 lei from an individual, claiming that he could influence the members of a committee that was to approve the individual’s transfer from a military unit in Caracal to one in Tulcea County. He subsequently allegedly requested another 7,000 lei for supposed expenses involving meals for the committee members.
Also in May, the defendant allegedly received 160,000 lei in two installments, claiming that he had influence over a general and the commander of a military school. In return, he allegedly promised to secure the individual’s passing of the examination for admission to the officers’ corps, without participating in the selection process and courses.
DNA also claims that, in 2021, he allegedly received 15,000 euros from a father and his son to facilitate the employment of one of them as a driver at the Olt County Ambulance Service. The defendant benefits from the presumption of innocence.
