Romania's gas export to the Republic of Moldova reached today 6 million cubic meters, the maximum possible for the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline. This increase is due to the cold weather and Moldova's total dependence on Romania for gas supply, after it gave up imports from Gazprom two years ago. Additionally, the gas pipeline network in Moldova has been operated since 2023 by the Romanian Transgaz, replacing a company controlled by Gazprom. Romania maintains its domestic gas production at a maximum of 24.1 million cubic meters, with imports of 13 million cubic meters, part of which is transited to Hungary and Ukraine. Domestic gas consumption is 53 million cubic meters, below the maximum capacity of 65-70 million cubic meters in cold weather conditions.
