Fragments of a drone detected in Volintiri, Ștefan Vodă District

Fragments of an unmanned aircraft were discovered on the evening of Saturday, September 26, 2026, outside the built-up area of Volintiri, Ștefan Vodă District, Republic of Moldova, after local residents alerted the authorities.

Border police officers found the remains on the ground at around 20:25. The area was immediately secured, and the authorities began checks to establish all the circumstances in which the fragments ended up there. So far, no information has been provided about the type of aircraft, its origin, or any possible damage.

The Border Police announced that it is acting together with the other competent authorities and is continuously monitoring the situation. The institution is also maintaining contact with the competent authorities in Ukraine, in the context of the incident that occurred near the border.

The authorities recommend that citizens do not approach or touch aircraft debris, munitions, or other unknown objects. If such objects are discovered, people must move away and immediately call 112
