Several drones flew over Moldova’s airspace on Saturday morning, near the localities of Anenii Noi, Ștefan Vodă, Hîncești, Tudora and Căușeni. Explosions were subsequently reported, and fragments of aircraft were discovered in several areas. No casualties were reported.
Moldova’s Defense Ministry in Chișinău announced that the drones had been detected by the National Integrated Monitoring System. The Air Operations Service continues to monitor the airspace in coordination with the competent authorities and external partners.
In Căușeni, police were notified at 7:50 a.m. about an explosion that occurred outside the built-up area. Dense smoke was observed at the scene, and fragments of a drone were found. Other debris was discovered near Dubovca and Hîncești.
A similar incident occurred near Crocmaz, in Ștefan Vodă District. An explosion in a vineyard caused a vegetation fire and damaged the windows of an agricultural building. Drone fragments were also found between the localities of Delacău and Puhăceni, in Anenii Noi District.
Authorities have not yet established the origin of the drones or the exact cause of the explosions. The incidents were reported amid attacks on Ukraine, near border areas. Police are urging people not to touch suspicious objects and to call 112.
