Several drones were spotted in Moldova’s airspace on Saturday morning, in the area of Căplani, while Ukrainian authorities announced that an object had fallen and caught fire near the border. The Border Police is verifying the circumstances and searching for possible fragments.
At around 4:00 a.m., Moldovan patrols identified several unidentified aircraft. Two flew over the airspace along the Olănești–Cistovodnoe direction, while another aircraft was spotted above Căplani. It subsequently left the territory of the Republic of Moldova in the Căplani–Crutoiarovca direction.
At 5:19 a.m., the Ukrainian side informed the authorities in Chișinău that, approximately 1.5–2 kilometers from the state border, in the direction of the outskirts of Troițcoe, an object had been seen falling, followed by a fire. A patrol went to the area, and checks are continuing.
Separately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova announced that, near Colonița, components resembling those of an unmanned drone powered by a turbojet engine were discovered after an explosion. The MFA condemned the incident and attributed it to the consequences of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine, describing any unauthorized entry into Moldova’s airspace as a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova.
