Senator Victoria Stoiciu announced on Facebook that she has resigned from the Social Democratic Party, considering that her vision no longer aligns with the current direction of the party. The decision came after she refused to sign the motion of censure, emphasizing that remaining in the PSD would mean endorsing the "normalization of fascism." Stoiciu highlighted the importance of keeping extremist forces politically isolated, citing historical lessons about the rise of fascism during the interwar period. She criticized the PSD's alliance with AUR, considering that it sacrifices fundamental democratic values for momentary political interests.
In the context of the collaboration between PSD and AUR to submit a motion of censure against the Bolojan Government, Stoiciu stated that she cannot be part of a project that compromises democracy. Additionally, AUR expressed its willingness to take the lead, provided that Nicușor Dan collaborates.
