USR Leader: "We do not desert in a difficult moment, our ministers are doing their job, they are even ready to take over the interim portfolios of the PSD ministers"

The leader of USR, Dominic Fritz, stated that it is legitimate to discuss with parliamentarians to support a minority government, in the context of the withdrawal of political support from PSD for Prime Minister Bolojan.

Fritz emphasized that PSD should either withdraw its ministers from the government or vote for a motion of no confidence if it wants a change: „They have withdrawn their support, this is not provided for in the Constitution, they must withdraw their ministers from the government or they must vote for a motion of no confidence if they want a change of government, which they have not yet done. PSD seems to not know very clearly what it wants”.

In the consultations with President Nicușor Dan, USR will emphasize the importance of keeping active ministers to avoid losing European funds: „We will tell the president that our ministers are at work, they are working for Romania, it is extremely important not to lose the ten billion euros from PNRR, 16 billion from the SAFE program, where we need to sign contracts by the end of May, so we are in a time crisis, we cannot afford all sorts of political games right now”.

Fritz mentioned that USR is ready to be part of a minority government and suggested that PSD could decide to go into opposition, taking on the responsibility.

He also specified that negotiations with AUR will be informal, but there will be no formal negotiations with this extremist party, considering USR's commitment to pro-European governance:
