The leader of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, stated after consultations with the designated prime minister Eugen Tomac that he "does not have a majority today" to obtain the investiture in the Romanian Parliament.

After the meeting on Tuesday, Hunor emphasized that an executive without a coherent majority cannot lead Romania in the desired direction, considering challenges such as PNRR and the budget for next year.

"We do not have sufficient arguments to vote for a government of which we are not a part. After we were censured by the PSD-AUR motion of censure," Hunor added, stating that the optimal option would be a technocratic prime minister but with political ministers.

"A politician should lead a political government, not a technocratic one, with accountable political figures, with responsibility assumed by the parties, because otherwise, it cannot be governed," Hunor added, emphasizing that "today I do not see a majority." At the same time, he pointed out that UDMR has no reason to vote against or for Tomac's government.
