The president of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, stated that it is not the time for an increase in the minimum wage in 2026, arguing that all coalition partners, including PSD, agreed with this conclusion. Hunor mentioned that recent discussions led to the decision to maintain the minimum wage at the level of 2025, arguing that an increase would bring more economic losses than budgetary benefits. In contrast, former finance minister Adrian Câciu stated that PSD firmly supports the increase of the minimum wage from January 1, 2026, criticizing UDMR's position and suggesting that those who disagree should leave. Additionally, former labor minister Marius Budăi reaffirmed that the minimum wage will increase next year, emphasizing the importance of respecting national and European legislation.
