On December 8, the Senate Plenary decided to withdraw the Golden Visa Romania project from the legislative circuit, initiated by PNL parliamentarians. This program would have allowed citizens from outside the EU/EEA/Swiss Confederation to obtain a temporary residence permit for five years, in exchange for a minimum investment of 400,000 euros in Romania. Eligible investments included Romanian government bonds, real estate, authorized investment funds, and shares in listed Romanian companies. The project stipulated that family members of the investor could be included in the permit application. Requirements for applicants included a minimum age of 18, valid border crossing documents, absence of criminal convictions, and proof of funds for investments.
