A bill submitted in Parliament by PNL lawmakers proposes the introduction of 'golden visas' for foreigners who invest at least 400,000 euros in Romania, granting them temporary residence for a period of five years. This measure targets investors from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area, aiming to attract capital and direct investments into the country. Romania currently lacks modern legislation that would allow access to temporary residence through passive investments, in contrast to other European countries that use similar schemes to attract funds. The conditions for obtaining the visa include purchasing government bonds, real estate, or investments in authorized investment funds. The project comes in response to international trends, similar to initiatives in the USA, and is intended to be approved in an emergency regime during this parliamentary session.
