The bill initiated by the Bolojan Government, which modifies the method of withdrawing funds from private pensions, has been adopted by the Chamber of Deputies. According to the new regulations, retirees will be able to withdraw a maximum of 30% of the accumulated amount, while the rest will be paid monthly over a period of up to 8 years. Patients with oncological conditions have the right to withdraw the entire amount at once. This modification has sparked controversy, with many critics pointing out that over 8.3 million Romanians will no longer be able to access all their money at once, which has generated discontent among the public. The law was adopted with 178 votes "for", 64 "against" and 22 abstentions, and AUR has contested its benefits, stating that private pension administrators are the ones who profit. The project also includes rules for organizing the private pension payment system, with scheduled withdrawal and lifetime funds. The law is set to be promulgated.
