Prime Minister Luca Niculescu took the oath of office on Tuesday evening at Cotroceni Palace, alongside Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacșu and the members of the new cabinet. The ceremony took place after Parliament approved the investiture of the Government, with 280 votes in favor.
The decree on the appointment of the Niculescu Government, signed on Tuesday by President Nicușor Dan, had previously been published in the Official Gazette, paving the way for the official assumption of the mandates.
The cabinet is presented as consisting of 18 ministers, two of whom are delegated ministers. The PSD holds 11 portfolios and one delegated ministerial position, while the other positions are held by independents. Marian Neacșu is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, while Alexandru Nazare heads the Ministry of Finance, Sebastian-Dănuț Neculăescu the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Radu Marinescu the Ministry of Justice.
The new executive oversees areas such as transport, defense, the economy, energy, agriculture, health, education, and culture. The Government also includes delegated ministers for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, and for Pre-university Education, respectively.
Luca Niculescu was designated on October 5 by President Nicușor Dan to form the Government, following consultations at Cotroceni Palace with the parliamentary parties and formations. The taking of the oath marks the official installation of the new cabinet.
