The Ministry of Environment denies that it would have known about the risk of stopping the water supply in localities in Prahova and that it would have ignored warnings regarding the situation at Paltinu, stating that the Zonal Exploitation System Prahova, the institution responsible for treating and supplying water, did not report that increased turbidity "could lead to the inability to treat the water and, implicitly, to the interruption of the drinking water supply."
"The statements that have appeared in the press, according to which the ministry would have known about the risk of stopping the water supply and would have ignored warnings, are false. Moreover, representatives of the Ministry of Environment specifically asked whether this risk exists, in several technical meetings, and received assurances from all local subordinate authorities that there is no risk for the population to lose access to water. ESZ Prahova, the institution responsible for treating and supplying water, did not report that increased turbidity could make the operation of the Voila Station impossible," the Ministry of Environment stated on Thursday morning.
