The governing coalition will have a new meeting on Monday at 6 PM to decide on the reform of judges' pensions, after the last meeting ended without consensus. The discussions were complicated by disagreements regarding the pension value, with judges demanding a higher percentage of the gross salary than the Government's proposal, which offered 70% of the net salary. Additionally, judges are requesting a transition period of 18 years for the implementation of the reform, in contrast to the 10 years suggested by the Government.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has shown openness for negotiations, accepting a transition of a maximum of 15 years. Furthermore, coalition leaders have also discussed reducing positions in local public administration, with mayors having the option to cut positions or salary expenses. Social Democrats have requested a postponement until 2027 for the affected mayors, and in central institutions, a 10% reduction in salary expenses is anticipated.
