Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Thursday evening the action directions for the reform of the first 22 state companies, emphasizing that companies in bankruptcy that consume public money cannot be accepted. These companies have generated losses of 14 billion lei in recent years, money that could have been invested in important projects. Bolojan explained that some companies will be modernized, others will merge or be closed, and a list of companies will be prepared for listing on the stock exchange. Companies in critical infrastructure, such as ELCEN and CFR SA, will benefit from investments, while troubled firms, such as TAROM and CFR Călători, will enter a recovery process. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of efficient management and independent auditing to leverage the potential of these companies. In the next 30 days, additional evaluations will be launched to identify efficiency measures. Bolojan stated that Romania can no longer afford waste and that the reform of state companies is essential for the national economy.
