Radu Burnete, presidential advisor, stated that Romania will not have a new government in August, emphasizing that its formation will only become a priority after all milestones in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) are met, with the deadline being August 31.
Burnete explained that the current political deadlock is caused by the complexity of the files in the PNRR, which has hindered negotiations for forming a new government. He mentioned that, in recent weeks, it has been difficult to bring the parties to the table for discussions, and the overlap of governmental negotiations with those related to the PNRR would have been hard to manage.
Burnete estimates that, at the beginning of autumn, a solution will be found for the political crisis in which Romania finds itself, considering that the current government has been dismissed through a vote of no confidence and the parties do not seem willing to make compromises.
