PSD withdraws political support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) has decided to withdraw political support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, following an internal referendum in which approximately 5,000 members participated. The result was overwhelming, with 97.7% of votes in favor of withdrawing support. Sorin Grindeanu, the leader of PSD, stated that the party will act according to the mandate received, emphasizing that continuing the government in its current form would represent a 'political trap'.

Grindeanu criticized the way PSD has been treated in the coalition, stating that it is unacceptable for a party with 45% of the coalition's weight to be ignored in favor of smaller parties. He mentioned that PSD entered the government with the aim of protecting the standard of living and supporting the economy, but these objectives have been missed. Grindeanu emphasized that PSD cannot continue to support austerity policies that contradict its fundamental values.

This decision was made during the event 'The Moment of Truth', held at the Palace of Parliament.
