PSD President Sorin Grindeanu is calling on Ilie Bolojan to return to government and is proposing the re-creation of the former coalition made up of PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR, and representatives of national minorities. The appeal comes during negotiations to support the Niculescu Government, which is expected to seek a vote of investiture in Parliament next week.
Grindeanu argues that the new Executive should have a limited mandate, intended to overcome the difficult period, and that in March or April the parties should assess whether the governing formula can continue. The Social Democrat leader says that Bolojan’s refusal to participate could be interpreted as an avoidance of responsibility and addresses him directly: “Come on, Ilie, govern!”
According to Grindeanu, Bolojan’s return to the position of prime minister would allow the country’s financial situation to be clarified. He warned that if the Niculescu Government does not receive Parliament’s vote, President Nicușor Dan would have two options: make a new nomination for the position of prime minister or dissolve Parliament and call early elections.
In the event of a failure to secure investiture, Grindeanu says he could personally negotiate transparent parliamentary support, particularly with PNL and UDMR.
