Sorin Grindeanu, the leader of PSD, announced that the party is presenting itself at the negotiations for forming the future government with a mandate to assume governance. He emphasizes that PSD demands a political agreement focused on Romania's priorities, such as PNRR, OECD, and respecting deficit targets, and not on the distribution of positions.
Grindeanu requested his colleagues the freedom to choose the team of ministers, in case PSD receives the mandate from the President of Romania. The party proposes to have full autonomy over the government program, with the goal of reviving the economy and regaining the trust of Romanians in the political class.
Grindeanu rejected the idea of a pact on positions, emphasizing that the agreement must be based on ideas that bring prosperity. He concluded by stating that it will be interesting to see who is truly concerned about the situation in Romania.
"PSD will have full autonomy over the government program. If there will be a PSD government, then it will be a government that is not afraid and will not stand with the cap in hand in front of anyone. It will be in the service of Romanians and that’s it. PSD will play exclusively on its own terms. The objective is simple, economic revival and regaining the trust of Romanians in the political class's ability to deliver prosperity," announced Grindeanu at the end of the BPN meeting.
