The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, is considering the possibility of proposing to the leaders of pro-European parties, who will meet on Monday at Cotroceni, the formation of a parliamentary majority and a government led by a technocratic prime minister. According to some sources, the proposed name is Delia Velculescu, the current deputy director at the IMF, known for her experience in managing financial crises. The option of a technocratic prime minister has been accepted, in principle, by PSD and UDMR, however, PNL, led by Ilie Bolojan, has stated that it will not support a government with PSD, regardless of the prime minister. Additionally, USR has adopted a similar position.
Delia Velculescu, originally from Sibiu, has a career of over 20 years at the IMF, being recognized for her expertise in financial restructuring. Discussions about her involvement in Romanian politics come in a difficult economic context, but there is still no official confirmation of the nomination.
