Nicușor Dan, consultations at Cotroceni with parliamentary parties for the appointment of a new prime minister / Meeting schedule

President Nicușor Dan convened on Tuesday the parties and parliamentary political formations for consultations to designate a candidate for the position of prime minister. The consultations will begin at 1:00 PM, with the first guests being representatives of the PSD, followed by those of AUR and PNL.

1:00 PM - Social Democratic Party (PSD);

1:30 PM - Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR);

2:00 PM - National Liberal Party (PNL);

2:30 PM - Save Romania Union (USR);

3:00 PM - Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR);

3:30 PM - Parliamentary Group of National Minorities;

4:00 PM - S.O.S. Romania Party (SOS);

4:30 PM - Young People's Party (POT);

5:00 PM - Parliamentary Group Unity for Romania;

5:30 PM - Parliamentary Group PACE – Together Romania;

6:00 PM - Non-affiliated parliamentarians.

We remind that the Adrian Veștea Government failed on Monday to gather the necessary parliamentary majority for investment, managing to gather only 189 votes in favor. Veștea was the second prime minister designated by President Nicușor Dan, after the first option, Eugen Tomac, did not even reach the vote in plenary.

The failure has amplified political tensions, with USR demanding urgent consultations at Cotroceni and PSD ready to assume governance.

PSD leader, Sorin Grindeanu, stated on Monday evening that PSD will not shy away from responsibility, emphasizing that it will not collaborate with AUR and will not support a minority government of PNL-USR-UDMR.

For his part, the head of the liberals, Ilie Bolojan, stated that Romania urgently needs a government that respects clear rules, while Robert Sighiartău declared that the "government of betrayal" has fallen, calling on the president to convene consultations according to the Constitution. PNL proposes a minority government, either led by PSD or by PNL, USR, and UDMR, emphasizing that solutions must be assumed and transparent.
