Claudiu Năsui, USR deputy and former Minister of Economy, stated that the increase in taxes, especially VAT, by the Bolojan Government was a fatal mistake. He emphasized that although VAT collections increased by 7.7%, inflation was 10%, which means that, in real terms, the state collected less money than last year. Năsui explained that high taxes discourage economic activity and encourage tax evasion, impoverishing the population.
He criticized the government's approach, which believes that increasing taxes will automatically lead to higher collections, stating that, in fact, this could lead to a decrease in them. Năsui proposed that the solution was not to increase taxes, but to reduce budgetary spending and subsidies for parties. He encouraged reversing tax increases to avoid turning a budget crisis into an economic one.
