Kelemen Hunor, the president of UDMR, reacted on Facebook to rumors regarding external influences in the party's decision not to support the Veștea government.
He rejected the accusations, stating that they are "fables and inventions" without any evidence. Kelemen Hunor stated that there were speculations suggesting that UDMR's position was determined by a phone intervention from the Prime Minister of Hungary, Magyar Péter, or by a supposed agreement between Ilie Bolojan and the Hungarian leader regarding the exploitation of gas in the Black Sea.
The UDMR leader emphasized that he has not had recent contact with the Prime Minister of Hungary and that the party's political decisions are independent.
He also stated that he has not discussed with the president of the EPP, Manfred Weber, and criticized the manipulation of public opinion through conspiracy theories.
Hunor reiterated that UDMR makes decisions based on the interests of its community and the assessment of the political situation in Romania.
