The president of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, stated that the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) and the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) misunderstood his comments regarding the magistrates' pension project. Hunor emphasized that he did not intend to attack the magistrates and has always been on their side.
His statements, made on Monday evening, suggested that the project was informally sent to the Court for analysis, which generated reactions from the ICCJ, which stated that these claims risk undermining public confidence in the independence of the judiciary. Additionally, the CSM clarified that Hunor was referring to the Constitutional Court, not the ICCJ, and condemned the prior consultation of the CCR as unacceptable, emphasizing the importance of the separation of powers in the state. Hunor later explained that he was referring to consultations between the Government and magistrates before the adoption of the project.
