The president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that social democrats have "felt the need to threaten" in order to impose their objectives within the governing coalition.

In an interview for Antena 3, Grindeanu emphasized that the stakes of the political disputes are not about changing Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, but about improving the functioning of the Government. He mentioned that the economic recovery measures proposed by PSD have been ignored for six months, which led to the necessity of threats to gain the support of the other parties. Grindeanu exemplified this behavior with the solidarity package for social aid, which was adopted only after he threatened to block the work in Parliament.

He also reaffirmed that PSD will not form an alliance with AUR and will not support a minority government.
