The leader of USR, Dominic Fritz, declared on Monday, after consultations with the designated Prime Minister Eugen Tomac, that in the event his cabinet does not pass Parliament, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, would like to propose another technocratic prime minister.

"This is how I understand that this is the plan, if Tomac's government falls, the second proposal will also be a technocrat," said USR leader Dominic Fritz, when asked if USR discussed with Eugen Tomac what happens in the event his cabinet does not gain the support of the parties and if Nicușor Dan will propose another technocratic prime minister in the second round of consultations.

At the same time, Fritz said that the party "can hardly see USR support for Tomac's government."

"A technocratic government with PSD's backing would obviously have a weak hand in continuing these reforms," said Fritz, adding: I told Eugen Tomac that we can hardly see USR support for his government, but that is a decision we need to make in the statutory forums, we will have consultations. We will have a vote in the political committee (...). We are also waiting for the final list of ministers, then we will make a decision.

Eugen Tomac has until Sunday to present himself before Parliament for the investiture vote.
