The European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, is making an official visit to Bucharest, where he will meet with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Ţoiu, and Minister of Justice Radu Marinescu. The topics of discussion will focus on strengthening democracy and the rule of law, as part of the preparation for the European Commission's annual report on the rule of law in member states.

The European Commission emphasizes that protecting the rule of law is a shared responsibility of European institutions and member states. McGrath will also engage in dialogue with representatives of the judiciary, prosecutors, judges, and civil society organizations, as part of a technical mission organized by the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (DG JUST).
