Eugen Tomac, designated prime minister, discussed in an interview with RFI about the necessity of compromises in politics, stating that politicians are elected to unblock situations, not to complicate them. Although he had proposals from his cabinet related to prominent figures of the PSD, Tomac emphasized that he is the only leader who has not made alliances with this party.
He mentioned that Marcel Ciolacu proposed he run on joint PSD-PNL lists for the 2024 European Parliament elections, but he refused. In contrast, PNL leaders gathered and decided not to support Tomac's government, considering that the proposal is a facade to relieve the PSD of responsibility. Ilie Bolojan criticized the absence of a solution from the PSD for the current political crisis, emphasizing that this formula only serves to evade the party's responsibility.
