The president of USR, Dominic Fritz, announced on Friday that the parliamentarians of the Save Romania Union still will not support the Veștea Government.

"Good morning! USR still will not vote for the Veștea Government," wrote the USR leader on his Facebook page on Friday.

The post comes after Fritz lost definitively at the High Court of Cassation and Justice, in the case with the National Integrity Agency, in which he was declared in a conflict of interest. Fritz announced that he will contest the decision at the European Court of Human Rights and that he will continue to fulfill his mandate as mayor.

He explained that the accusation of conflict of interest is related to a signature on a document, which ANI considers problematic, despite the fact that it did not bring significant benefits.

After the court's decision, several USR leaders expressed their support for Fritz, including the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, and the Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, who emphasized his integrity and courage.

Additionally, the former USR president, Cătălin Drulă, stated that Fritz is innocent and that he has the support of his party colleagues, denouncing the system that harasses him.

The ICCJ's decision on Thursday coincided with the suspension in court of the sanctions applied to those in PNL who support the Veștea Government, as well as the DNA investigation targeting Ciprian Ciucu, the liberal first vice president.

The decisions come in the context in which the pro-Bolojan wing of PNL and USR announced that they will vote against the Veștea Government. Lastly, we remind that last week the CSM accused PNL and USR of attacking justice.
