Context: USR refused to support a government with PSD ministers and called for snap elections
Before the announcement from Brussels, Dominic Fritz stated that USR would not vote for a government in which there were PSD ministers and warned that it would not accept an executive branch seen as a “front” for the Social Democrats’ return to power. The position was expressed in the context of negotiations to form a new government, following PSD’s decision to enter government.
Fritz linked this distinction to the responsibility attributed to PSD for the political deadlock and rising prices, while the party argued that the solution to ending the political crisis would be to hold snap elections.
