After the Constitutional Court declared the law regarding the special pensions of magistrates unconstitutional, Dominic Fritz, the president of USR, stated that his party will not give up on abolishing these privileges. Fritz emphasized the importance of carefully reading the reasoning of the CCR, mentioning that if the rejection is based on form, the project will be redone, and if it is based on substance, USR will propose a referendum to amend the Constitution.

He stressed that the majority of Romanians want the elimination of these privileges and highlighted that the state must function for all citizens, not just for a privileged few. Fritz considered that the reform of special pensions represents a test of courage for the Government, which must continue in the direction of reforming the state. The CCR's decision was made with a majority of 5 to 4 votes, based on procedural issues related to the adoption of the legislative act.
