Iran accuses the USA of "economic terrorism". Abbas Araghchi calls on the UN to reject American coercive measures.

Iran reacted vehemently on Wednesday to the new threats of sanctions from the United States, which it described as "an act of state and economic terrorism."

In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, and the Security Council, Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, accused the US of trying to undermine Iran's legal economic relations with other countries, following failures to achieve objectives through war.

Washington announced new sanctions aimed at economically isolating Iran, targeting even its trading partners.

US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, warned that anyone collaborating with Iran will feel "the full force of the US."

Araghchi emphasized that these sanctions affect civilians, restricting access to essential goods. He called on the international community to condemn these unilateral measures and not to succumb to American pressures.

China has already criticized the sanctions plan, emphasizing that an economic war will not bring solutions but will exacerbate conflicts.
