European Parliament member Dan Motreanu, the general secretary of PNL, accused PSD of focusing on behind-the-scenes games, which led to the blocking of the budget for 2026. Motreanu claims that the cynical strategies of PSD have delayed the budget, putting investments, salary payments, and pensions at risk. He emphasized that, through alliances with AUR, PSD has fallen into its own trap, and now, at the crucial moment of the vote, the promised support disappears. Motreanu warned that this situation risks severely affecting the economy and Romania's access to EU funds. The budget was blocked after a PSD amendment was rejected in parliamentary committees, and AUR changed its mind regarding the vote. The plenary debate, scheduled for Thursday, remains uncertain.
