MEP Dan Barna issued a clear warning regarding the negotiations for forming the future Executive, emphasizing that USR will not support a Government in which PSD maintains control over important decisions. The statement was made during an intervention at RFI, in the context where President Nicușor Dan is expected to appoint the new Prime Minister of Romania. Barna criticized the idea of a governmental formula that would preserve the current power structure, mentioning that simply changing the Prime Minister is not enough without reforming the power mechanisms.
USR is open to negotiations, but only in the case of a clear governmental formula, without PSD influence. The name circulated for the position of Prime Minister, Eugen Tomac, has been mentioned, but Barna has been firm regarding USR's position towards PSD. His statements come at a crucial moment for the Romanian political scene.
