Claudiu Manda asked the new Government, led by Luca Niculescu, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the national economy and quickly adopt a budget adjustment. The request comes after the Cabinet was sworn in, having received Parliament’s vote on Tuesday, with 280 votes in favor and 58 against.
The Social Democratic leader maintains that the austerity measures adopted during the period when Ilie Bolojan was prime minister generated imbalances whose effects are felt in everyday life. Manda called for a clear analysis of the country’s financial situation, the scale of the problems, and the measures needed to correct them.
According to him, the budget adjustment must ensure urgent funding for healthcare, local administrations, and public services. He cited access to medicines and medical services, heating schools, the continuation of investments, and the payment of outstanding bills.
In his message, Manda directly criticized former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, stating that his policies had undermined Romanians’ hope.
The new Cabinet, consisting of 11 PSD ministers and several independents, took the oath of office at Cotroceni Palace, in the presence of President Nicușor Dan.
