PSD Secretary-General Claudiu Manda said Thursday that Romania needs security and a competent, credible government capable of making decisions and putting them into practice, amid economic and institutional difficulties.
Manda said that the PSD had taken responsibility for governing and proposed a team of experienced ministers, whom it asked to focus on solutions for the people. According to him, every decision must be assessed based on its effects on the population and its contribution to economic recovery and restoring trust in state institutions.
The Social Democratic leader criticized the parties that, in his view, are avoiding the responsibility of governing after five months during which the crisis is said to have deepened. He argued that Romanians should not have to pay for politicians’ refusal to take responsibility and that no party should put electoral calculations ahead of the people’s interests.
With winter approaching, Manda called for an urgent budget rectification and preparations for next year’s budget. He pointed to the need to ensure heating, medicines in hospitals and the continuity of public services.
