Claudiu Manda: PSD is ready for early elections and to govern

The PSD is prepared both for snap elections and to take on governing, the party’s secretary general, Claudiu Manda, said Friday. He stated that the Social Democrats are proposing a “Government for Romanians,” with a program focused on relaunching the economy and developing the country.

The statement was made after a meeting organized in Sinaia with representatives of the PSD women’s organization. Manda argued that the party is discussing the problems people face in their communities and the measures needed in the coming period.

The Social Democratic leader criticized the political situation of the past nearly five months and accused Bolojan of having blocked the formation of a government. In his view, continuing the current policies offers no solutions to the economic problems, whose effects are being felt by the population.

Manda also criticized the negotiations over portfolios and ministerial lists, arguing that solutions were quickly found for positions, while Romania’s interests were allegedly relegated to the background. He said that the PSD is not afraid of a possible snap vote and that the party is prepared to participate in elections or take over governing, if that is the political alternative.

“We saw the negotiations over portfolios. We saw the lists of ministers. Solutions were quickly found for positions. But for Romania, Mr. Mureșan? If the alternative to not supporting the Mureșan Government is a vote by Romanians, very well! We have no reason whatsoever to fear it.”
